Marketing Director

Collegewise is looking for a Marketing Director to lead our marketing team. This is a remote position, so we’re happy to consider the right candidate anywhere within the US.

Who we are
Collegewise is a college counseling company that guides high school students through the college admissions process. We bring sanity, perspective, and clarity to an often confusing and anxiety filled time for families—ensuring that students have the resources and advice they need to confidently navigate their journey to college.

Since 1999, we’ve helped more than 12,000 “A” students, “C” students, and everyone in between apply and get accepted to schools—sometimes famous, often not—that they’re excited to attend. And we do it all with just the right mix of advice, encouragement, and occasional cheerleading to ensure their college admissions process goes smoothly and thoughtfully. We also speak in public, write, and constantly look for ways to spread relevant college planning information to anyone who needs it—whether or not they join our program.

What’s the job?
As a Marketing Director, you will be responsible for leading strategic marketing programs for Collegewise products and services. You will lead collaboration across our sales, marketing, and counseling services teams to achieve ambitious growth targets. A competitive candidate will have strong integrated marketing experience and be able to direct the efforts of multi-functional marketing programs. Collegewise has proven, difference-making products, and we’re looking for the same qualities in candidates for this position. You will report directly to the Chief Growth Officer.

What does success look like in six months?

  • You have taken accountability and ownership of the marketing budget, pipeline targets and ROI.
  • You have improved marketing’s performance and are hitting (or exceeding) marketing targets.
  • Prospective clients are responding positively to your marketing strategy.
  • You are working in lockstep with sales and key leaders in the organization to develop on-brand marketing campaigns that encompass the full buyer’s journey and accomplish our business objectives.
  • You have established regular communication and are improving the outputs from all our agencies and consultants, including PR, lead gen, web, creative, content, and others, to help drive marketing programs.
  • You are running inspired campaigns that make our brand come to life.
  • You are clearly articulating expectations to your team, and they feel in the loop with detailed information on marketing plans and campaign performance.
  • You have established a close relationship with the finance and operations teams and are using campaign results and data to continuously finetune marketing programs.
  • You are optimizing and managing our budgets thoughtfully.

  • You have managed successful marketing programs in the education or services industries.
  • You thrive in a high-energy, high-growth, start-up culture.
  • You are a motivated self-starter, with ability to balance strategic, creative, and tactical work.
  • You have exceptional communication, interpersonal, planning, and project management skills.
  • You have experience in successfully managing multiple agencies to help drive marketing programs.
  • You can confidently and independently make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • You are analytical and data driven—you can synthesize information from multiple sources and draw meaningful conclusions to craft business case for campaigns.
  • You have hired, retained, and engaged talent on previous marketing teams.
  • You are open, honest, and highly collaborative.
  • You are committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.

The details

  • Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience and potential.
  • Start date: We’d like our new marketing leader to start as soon as possible, but we can be flexible to accommodate the right person. 
  • Location: Remote (can be based anywhere in the United States)
